About the Role

Role Overview

The Production Manager is responsible for end-to-end execution of manufacturing operations within assigned process areas. The role focuses on planning, supervision, data collection, process improvement, and risk mitigation to ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery commitments are consistently met.

Each Production Manager will own specific manufacturing areas (assigned based on experience), but all roles operate under the same responsibility framework and performance expectations.

 

Manufacturing Areas (Assigned Based on Role)

●       Sheet Metal, Pipe & Laser Cutting

●       Welding (Manual & Robotic), Grinding, Pre-Treatment & Powder Coating

●    Assembly, Packaging, Internal & External Material Movement, Wood Cutting

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Execution

●       Plan daily and weekly production based on BOMs, job cards, and dispatch priorities

●       Allocate work to supervisors and shop-floor teams

●       Monitor output vs plan and take corrective action to avoid delays

●       Ensure smooth material and process flow across assigned departments

 

2. Team & Supervisor Management

●       Manage and guide supervisors and operators across shifts

●       Ensure discipline, attendance, safety, and standard work practices

●       Act as the first escalation point for shop-floor issues

 

3. Data Collection & Costing Support

●       Collect and validate production data including:

                       ○    Cycle time

                       ○    Manpower usage

                       ○    Material consumption

                       ○    Scrap and rework

●       Submit accurate inputs for product costing and ERP reporting

●       Ensure data integrity and timeliness

 

4. Quality & Process Control

●       Ensure adherence to approved drawings, jigs, fixtures, and SOPs

●       Reduce rework, defects, and variability in processes

●       Support new product introductions and design changes

 

5. Process Improvement

●       Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and waste

●       Implement practical improvements in:

                       ○    Layout

                       ○    Workflow

                       ○    Tooling

                       ○    Manpower deployment

●       Drive continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor

 

6. Risk Identification & Mitigation

●       Identify operational risks related to:

                       ○    Capacity

                       ○    Manpower

                       ○    Material availability

                       ○    Equipment downtime

●       Proactively implement preventive and corrective actions

 

7. Reporting & Communication

●       Prepare and submit weekly reports covering:

                       ○    Production vs plan

                       ○    Efficiency

                       ○    Rejections and rework

                       ○    Key issues and actions taken

●       Coordinate closely with Stores, Quality, Maintenance, and Planning teams

●       Consistent achievement of production targets

●       Accurate, reliable production data for costing and planning

●       Reduced rework, scrap, and delays

Stable and disciplined shop-floor operations

Requirements

Candidate Profile

Education

●  Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering

Experience

● 5–10 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing operations

● Prior experience managing supervisors and shop-floor teams

● Exposure to at least one of the assigned manufacturing areas


Skills & Traits

● Strong planning and execution capability

● Data-oriented mindset (Excel, basic ERP exposure)

● Practical problem-solving approach

● High ownership and accountability

Comfortable working in a 10-hour shop-floor role

Location: Manufacturing Facility

Shift Timing: 8:30 AM – 6:30 PM (10-hour shift)

Working Days: 6 days/week

Salary Range: 6 LPA - 7.2 LPA
