About the Role
ROLE PURPOSE
To support the design and engineering team by delivering accurate, manufacturable drawings and BOMs, while learning cost-aware, production-oriented engineering practices.
This role exists to convert engineering intent into reliable execution, under supervision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (JD)
Engineering Design & Drafting
Prepare detailed mechanical drawings as per guidance.
Create and update: part drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs
Ensure drawings are clear, accurate, and follow standards.
Manufacturing Support
Work closely with production to:
clarify drawings
resolve basic shop-floor issues
Incorporate manufacturability feedback into revisions.
Design Changes & Revisions
Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
Update drawings and BOMs as approved.
Maintain revision history and documentation discipline.
Cost & Practical Awareness (Learning Focus)
• Understand how:
• material choice
• thickness
• part count
• affect cost.
• Flag obvious over-engineering or duplication for review.
Documentation & Data Discipline
Maintain proper file naming, versioning, and storage.
Ensure alignment between drawings, BOMs, and ERP data.
Follow defined engineering processes strictly.
Learning & Skill Development
Learn DFM/DFA principles.
Improve understanding of fabrication, welding, and assembly.
Progress toward independent handling of small assemblies.
Requirements
REQUIRED PROFILE
Education
• BE / BTech / Diploma – Mechanical Engineering
Experience
• 2–5 years in design / engineering role
• Exposure to manufacturing is preferred
Skills
• Intermediate CAD proficiency (Fusion360 preferred, SolidWorks / Creo / similar)
• Ability to read and interpret drawings
• Willingness to engage with shop floor
